Projects we have worked on.


FE IMAGE AC-DC CONVERTER: Responsible for the design of a microcontroller based 220VAC to 325VDC 1500W converter. By monitoring the AC mains zero voltage crossing points the microcontroller calculated initial power on SCR firing times in order to limit AC inrush current. The microcontroller sequenced turn on of external DC-DC converters and generated the system AC power fail signal. Design tasks included electrical, mechanical, PCB layout and software programming.



LB IMAGE WATER TREATMENT SYSTEM: Had complete responsibility for the overall control system design of a catalytic brine cell based potable water disinfection system. The embedded controller monitored brine cell voltage and current to determine the speed of micropump to achieve the correct brine injection rate in to the brine cell. Design tasks included generation of system specifications, operational modes, electrical, mechanical, and software design.



DC-DC POWER SUPPLIES: Modified the design of a family of switchmode power supplies for SATCOM transceivers. Tasks included the design of internal bias supplies, supply output sequencing, magnetics, PCB layout, and temperature testing. The mast mounted transceivers operated outdoors over a -40° to +125° C temperature range.



RC IMAGE REDUNDANT CONTROLLER: Responsible for the design of a embedded controller that monitored SATCOM transceivers, and controlled waveguide switch(s). Housed outdoors, the unit is operational over a -40° to +125° C temperature range. Project involvement was from concept to completed unit and included electrical, PCB design, and software programming.
